Cotton in 8/4 thickness is one of the most used yarn qualities in Denmark. At the same time, cotton yarn was also one of the primary yarns and a hallmark of Mayflower from the very beginning in 1951. Mayflower Cotton 8/4 was one of our first popular yarn qualities, and we still use our many years of expertise in cotton to this day to produce some of the best cotton yarn on the market.

Cotton 8/4 consists of 100% pure cotton of very good quality, which ensures that the cotton yarn is both soft and durable. These are just two of the properties that have made Mayflower Cotton 8/4 a sought-after yarn type, but there are also many other reasons to choose the 4-ply classic.

Cotton is an organic and pure natural material, which ensures good breathability. Cotton also conducts excess heat away from the body, which makes Cotton 8/4 particularly suitable for, for example, summer clothes, which should not get too hot. There are many possibilities with pure cotton: nice tops and light blouses, baby knits, baby blankets or a crocheted bully hat. An 8/4 cotton looks best on 3mm needles. Amigurumi and crocheted teddy bears are also good to crochet in Cotton 8/4.

Cotton yarn also excels in having fantastic absorbency, which is why pure cotton yarn is typically used for crocheted and knitted dishcloths. Please note that all pure cotton can actually withstand boiling water, which is important for dishcloths and towels, for example. However, the colors can fade at high temperatures. Therefore, we generally recommend washing blouses and the like at a maximum of 40 degrees, so that your clothes stay nice for longer.
